For our main project, we were asked to select a specific culture and crate a bodice or vest based on that culture. I based my vest on Turkish culture, using couching to govern my design. I was given a few traditional patterns and used references, but I designed the layout. All designs were hand-couched onto a reinforced velvet base, then trimmed with layered gold ribbons and assembled into the vest. Approximate construction time was 3 months.
