Graphite Drawings

Often anatomically focused, these drawings serve to practice skills for later rendering. The drawings range from 2015 -- present. The majority are done with my dominate hand, but two of the hands in the first image were done with my non-dominate hand due to an injury. Most can be found in various sketchbooks, but some are drawn on various random paper surfaces.

2D Media

From watercolor paints, interior design, ballpoint pen, font development, colored pencil, and even conté crayon, my portfolio of independent 2D works is quite diverse. The caricature was not drawn by me, but I went back and finished it with watercolor paints. Senior year of high school, or National Art Honors Society chaper was tasked with designing a mural for the motor development room used by special needs students. I designed the mural, then supervised the painting. Out of boredom one day, I developed a font to use in labeling some bins. I have been working on putting together a character sheet, but I have only managed to do the capitol letters. The 5 character renderings were done on commission for a friend in color pencil when I was 16. The conté crayon self-portrait was done using a mirror for a high school art class. Ballpoint pen drawings are something I do out of boredom, usually of eyes or mouthes.

Digital Artwork

Most digital artwork was done for High School art classes, but I have been working independently on my digital illustration abilities. I have not been made aware that any of my designs are being used for commercial design. The digital self-portrait won a Scholastic Honorable Mention and the flower blossom edit won a Scholastic regional Gold Key in 2017.

Sculpture

I am proficient in many different sculptural mediums: paper, wire, clay, metal, and found materials. Most of these sculptures were created for AP Art Studio, but some date as early as 2014. The Birdman sculpture was selected for the superintendents office, and the blue rake vase was awarded a Scholastic Honorable Mention in 2015.

Wearable Art

For my AP Art Studio concentration, I chose to focus on wearable art created from found objects. I define wearable art as a sculptural piece best completed using the human body or a body analog. Mostly, the "clothing" pieces are made to be worn by me. Most have a fabric base for ease of construction and modesty, but the newspaper gown was sculpted to a dress form using paper machê, then split open to fit the model. Jewelry was also made for the concentration, mostly out of linked colorful pop tabs. All pieces were made with at least 80% recycled materials, even the jean jacket is mad out of old pants. There are also a few shirt prints made using bleach included.

Special Effects Makeup

In high school, the Costume Crew also worked on the Makeup Crew for productions. As such, we were taught basic corrective theatre makeup and some special effects. I frequently experimented on myself and my crew mates, attempting to create more absurd and realistic makeup effects. Some were so good that it actually concerned family and friends. I still practice special effects makeup on myself, though I occasionally do it for other people when they ask.
